PFV v2

I had the PFV v1 for a little over a year, running about 250 miles in that time. I was looking for something just a tad larger, both in the rear compartment and water size; but was'nt ready to commit to the Gear Vest just yet. The PFV v2 fit the bill! The rear compartment now fits at least an iPhone 7 with Life Proof case and some other flat essentials (TP and couple of band-aids), and I absolutely love the fact that this version has a zipper; before I rarely used it because I was afraid of losing anything I put in there. The increase of water size is perfect (I drink lots of water on runs) for 10ish miles; the bottle does bounce/slosh a little until you drink a few ounces though. I added an additional elastic band about an inch above the water opening to help with this.

The rear compartment zipper was amazingly easy to use even while wearing AND running but putting anything in there that wasn't flat (such as a pair of thin gloves) makes you feel like a hunchback. To remedy this, I also sewed in an elastic band on the right side to hold gloves.

I have never used the bite valve flap and think it should be converted to another Velcro pocket (that would double as a valve flap) for keeping additional supplements or trash.

The plastic keeper tabs for the adjustment straps don't work very well in my opinion (same for the v1 model) and the first thing I did when I received this version was replace them with tri-glides for a never-slip fit.

Overall I think this product…

Odd yet obsessed = awsomeness

The first few times I saw this, I thought the people at Orange mud went and pooped themselves, that thing looks off....smack to reality, I always carry a hand held anywhere from 1-10 miles, but need to carry a few extra items, I jumped and got this, and first, was off cause the water causes you to lean forward, amd it's a soft flask...my first run at 5 miles, I'm hooked cause I'll sometimes run a back mount to carry extra stuff, for protection, pepper spray fits in the right shoulder pouch , I have a dog buzzer that fits in front of the flask, keys can snap in a small pocket on the left, in the trunk on the back, I put a small flip phone, and snacks for Natick (running dog)....theres plenty of water for (me) for 10 miler...

Very minimal but very useful.

I don't like carrying extra gear. In fact, I don't even wear a watch when I run. But when I run ultras that require me to carry hydration, I want something minimal, comfortable, and unintrusive. This vest is exactly that. I have worn it twice now—on a test run and recently during a 10-mile race, and I really liked it. Now let's not get things twisted, I'm still not going to wear a hydration vest unless I'm required or risk death due to heat...but when I do, I'll wear this one.

The positives: It's minimal but functional, lightweight, easy to put on, doesn't bounce, has a big pocket, many pockets, and even a key clip.

The negatives: The key pocket may not be large enough for bigger FOBs and it's probably not made for women with a big chest.

Great minimalist vest

Overall I like it and use it more than my other vests. Another person mentioned the key pocket being small, and it is. I don't think its recommended to stuff it, if it doesn't fit, throw it in the back pocket. I ended up putting the teeth facing up because I thought it would be bad for the pocket i did facing down, but I ended up with a leaky bottle instead. My fault I guess, but I hope orangemud takes note of keys not fitting properly in this pocket. Also I dont need my phone handy usually, so I found out it fits perfectly in the back pocket with room for extra gels, keys, id/credit card/cash.

I hope this lasts forever

I’ve switched to the pfv v1 and I can’t go back to the back bladder bags. It’s easy to sip, even easier to clean! My running is usually 1-2 hours, and this perfectly organizes my water, keys, id, fuel gels, and phone - I love the minimalist design. Also the straps are snug and do not chafe my neck and the pack does not bounce up and down. The l/xl was perfect for me, I’m 6’, 175 lbs. 42” chest. I added Velcro backing on the back to attach my favorite morale patches, and can swap them out and change them. I just ran the Baltimore half and i barely remembered it was on. Sweet gear - hope it lasts!
