New for 2018! The rear footprint is the same, but the front chest harness has a dual sternum slider with 2 elastic chest straps for maximum adjustability. This works wonders on fit, and will make many ladies very happy with the new fit, guys too!

Featuring 2 24oz BPA free bottles in the back, 2 mesh chest pockets, 2 mesh shoulder pockets, and a rugged shock cord in the back for jackets. The VP2 vest pack utilizes a 3D spacer mesh with a transparent surface that gives a plush "floating" honeycomb appearance. It's softness makes it comfortable against the skin and breathable, while having minimal stretch. This pack is extremely light, extremely breathable, stable under speed yet comfortable for the long haul.

The way to fit this pack is to clip the front clips, then cinch the sides nice and snug while leaving the front chest strap loose. This tension is very important as it controls the fit and the front chest strap once set won't have to be readjusted.

  1. Weight without bottles: 10oz.
  2. iPhone 6/7/8 in a case will fit into the shoulder pockets, plus size fit in the optional Modular Bag (link) or in the front chest pockets.
  3. Storage = 198 cubic inches.

Perfect for marathon training

Love this vest! It holds everything I need for marathon training. It isn't awkward, it doesn't chafe, there's no breaking in period. It's really easy to get used to and really easy to customize the fit,

Moving from the Double Barrel to Vest Pack 2

Over the past three years, I exclusively wore the HyraQuiver Double Barrel (DB) for all long runs and races that ranged up to 100 miles, but recently bought the new HydraQuiver Vest Pack 2 (VP2). For me, carrying large bottles is a must as it is really convenient to refill on the run. Plus these packs have plenty of space to carry essential items so I wanted to find something very similar to the DB.

The first thing that I noticed about the VP2 is that it is has a more balanced feel as the straps under the arms and across the chest form a snug fit around the torso versus the DB that cinches around each shoulder. The VP2 also allows for more range of motion when reaching in front and I expect it to be a more comfortable fit over long periods of times because it is not tightly strapped around each shoulder. The pack also feels lighter and like it breathes better which I imagine is from using different material. Also, I like the big pockets in the front which fit a sandwich as before I had to reach behind my head to unzip the pack and dig out stuff.

Two things that I’ve noticed about the VP2 that are a bit inferior to the DB is that it is difficult to tighten the straps under the arms when wearing the pack as they are hard to grasp. In addition, it seems the bottles fall out of the VP2 easier as the DB has some squishy material in the holder that seems to hold the bottle.

All in all, I think the VP2 is a great product and I look forward to wearing it over the next few…

Excellent but why did you remove the back zipper pocket?

I had the original double barrel for 3 years. I bought a new one because the velcro wore out . The new pack is more comfortable, well balanced, easier to reach the bottles. (old one was not hard, but this is even easier). The front pockets are really nice.

I just don't understand why the back zipper pocket was removed.

Hi Beaux! Thanks for reviewing our pack! This design had changes that wouldn't allow the zipper pocket, but instead it has a modular bag that adds on to the outside which performs better for additional gear. We were able to have the internal pocket on the back of the double barrel thanks to the thicker padding and a design that doesn't pull it to your body as much as the vp2. Just totally different fit!
