It's hot in Alabama. I previously ran with a bladder pack. Although it did the job, I dreaded putting it on and running with it. I felt the weight of the pack the entire run. I also hated having to clean the bladder after each run. But, it was all I knew.
My buddy and I went running one day and he had just received his Orange Mud bladder pack. Although I did not like my pack, his was different. It was well constructed and seem to sit a bit better on his back.
This summer I decided I was going to buy a nice running pack. I went to order the same pack my buddy had and noticed the bottle packs. I debated on the Double Barrel and Vest Pack 2. I contacted OM and asked for an opinion and they said don't worry, you have 30 days to return it if you don't like it. The idea of no front straps intrigued me. So, I ordered the DB. I ran with it for 3 weeks. I'm not saying it wasn't awesome, it just did not fit ME like I wanted. (That is not a knock. The pack is great) So I returned it (easy) and ordered the VP2.
OMYGOODNESS!!!!!!! I have found heaven. I am 5'9" 170lbs. This pack is IT! No bounce. It sits very high. Minimal fit. Best of all, I do not dread wearing a pack. That's a bold statement. Wearing this pack is the equivalent of wearing your favorite pair of running shoes.
Side note - I also bought the insulated bottles from OM, which are a perfect fit. Loaded with ice, the liquid will stay cool for almost an hour, VS 30 minutes with the regular bottles.
